I moved from Los Angeles to Omaha over a decade ago, leaving behind beaches, traffic, mountains and most importantly, my children. The only thing i don’t really miss is traffic!
I live in Bellevue Nebraska, just south of Omaha. Omaha is pretty much in the center of Flyover Country. Popularized in music, Omaha is a river/rail/road transportation hub, its history has been largely determined by the development of those systems. It is surrounded by rolling farmlands growing mostly corn and soybeans.
To make money, I drive people. I won’t mention the companies involved, but my regular area encompasses pretty much everything from Des Moines Iowa to North Platte Nebraska east/west, Sioux City Iowa to Kansas City Missouri north/south, with occasional forays into Kansas, South Dakota and Minnesota. One of the pleasures of my job is that i get to see a huge amount of country, observing it at 70 mph as I cruise along. I get to deal with seasonal weather, something I really missed while living in LA, which really varies from hot and dry to less hot and less dry.
I’ve also lived on both coasts and have traveled somewhat. I’m an Air Force veteran, in college I studied biology and mathematics before a starting a career in programming and IT. Processes and infrastructure fascinate me, I love music, science fiction and nature.
What you’ll read here will be about the world I live in, as filtered through the lense of who I am.
